Eco-friendly Hobbit House

Eco-friendly-Hobbit-House-05

Eco-friendly-Hobbit-House-06

Everyone, who has an experience of building a home of his own, knows how costly it can be. But today I want to present you an inspiring example of a man who did it for next to nothing.
What may seem to be a miracle, is a result of determination, will and integrity. Michael Buck, who’s a retired art teacher from Oxfordshire, built his gorgeous cob house following a few simple principles: he used only local materials that he could find himself, he didn’t want to use any power tools and the house was to cost as little as possible. It was easier for Michael as he already owned the land, and he didn't need any special permits since it was considered a summer home, but still he had to spare no effort to build it. Even though the house has no electricity, no running water and is heated by a woodstove, it’s atmosphere is so lovely that it makes up all inconveniences.

Here's your circus!

What we don't see in circus is the horrible way the animals are treated in order to learn to be afraid to humans.  Behind the glamorous and the fancy lights the animals suffer a life worst than death.  When is this going to stop?

Freedom at last!

A rich girl from Qatar purchased a Birds Zoo in Austria and released all the birds!
Is there anything that can be compared with this wild hunger for freedom that makes the birds fly away with all their strength?  Freedom is as essential as breath because we can keep living without being alive!  These birds are a joy to look at!

Denmark Bans Halal And Kosher Meat As ‘Animal Rights Come Before Religion’

goats-med

But minister for agriculture and food Dan Jørgensen said that “animal rights come before religion”.
European regulations require animals to be stunned before they are slaughtered, but exemptions can be made on religious grounds.
Some Halal and Kosher consumers believe it is acceptable for the animal to be stunned before it is slaughtered, but many others insist that the animal is fully conscious when it has its throat cut.

Man Devotes His Life To Adopting Old Dogs Who Can’t Find Forever Homes

Man Devotes His Life To Adopting Old Dogs Who Can’t Find Forever Homes

Months kept passing after Steve Greig’s beloved dog died, but he still felt crushed. That’s when he decided he should give another dog a good life. But not just any dog. He went to his local shelter in Denver, Colorado to adopt the “least adoptable” senior dog, as these are the ones too often overlooked. Now, Greig is a super busy human dad to his 10 elder shelter dogs and his Instagram is overloaded with cuteness approved by 478k followers.
Each day Greig wakes up at 5.a.m in the morning to make breakfast for his big family. Most of the dogs have different diets. His schedule is filled with walks in the park, vet appointments…and lots of love and cuddles. “Whenever I sit or lie down at a dog-friendly level, there are always at least three or four of [dogs] attached,” Greig writes on Instagram.
“They’re just wiser animals,” Greig told The Dodo. “You kind of know what you want out of life once you become a certain age. These dogs know who they are and it’s easy to develop a relationship with a person or pet who knows who they are. It’s just fulfilling knowing that these guys are happy and loved and well-taken care of. It makes my days worthwhile.”
Greig also has a pig named Bikini, as well as two ducks, pigeons, cats and a few chickens. He has no more room for pets at the moment but he intends to adopt more senior dogs in the future. Because after all, love sees no age.

Town in Italy starts using Silent Fireworks as a way of Respecting their Animals

Town in Italy starts using Silent Fireworks as a way of Respecting their Animals

Any large celebration that involves fireworks is fun, but while we enjoy the sounds and sights of colourful explosions overhead, our animals feel very differently.
The explosions caused by fireworks have been known to give some domestic pets heart problems, nausea, tremors, debilitating fears and light-headedness. We all know that animals have far more sensitive hearing so you won't be surprised to read that firework displays can leave pets with “acoustic stress”.
During firework displays animals are often confused as to where the loud noises are coming from which makes them run frantically away. Unfortunately, this sometimes results in them being hit by a car. Other animals may be too close to the explosion and receive burns or eye damage as a result. If you keep chickens, you might find that they produce fewer eggs after a firework display.
People of the town of Collecchio in the province of Parma in Italy are doing something about it. The local government has introduced new legislation forcing citizens to use silent fireworks as a way of respecting the animals and reducing the stress caused them.
The company, Setti Fireworks make fireworks which produce a spectacular light show but without the deafening sounds normally associated with a firework display. They design their fireworks to fit the venue and event that they will be used for.

FLORIDA MADE IT LEGAL TO RESCUE PETS AND PEOPLE IN CARS

FLORIDA JUST MADE IT LEGAL TO BREAK INTO CARS TO RESCUE PETS, PEOPLE

WITH WARMER WEATHER APPROACHING, THIS LAW COULD REALLY SAVE LIVES. IF YOU LIVE IN FLORIDA AND SEE A SWELTERING POOCH LOCKED INSIDE A VEHICLE, YOU NOW HAVE THE RIGHT TO PHYSICALLY INTERVENE AND RESCUE PETS WITH NO PUNISHMENT.

This law could save lives. If you live in Florida and sweltering pooch is locked inside a vehicle, you have the right to physically react and rescue pets
doggiescare.com

Recently, Republican Governor Rick Scott signed House Bill 131 into law, allowing Floridians to break into locked automobiles to rescue pets or vulnerable people who are “in imminent danger of suffering harm.”
The bill comes as a direct response to the growing number of incidents where pets and children have died because they have been left in overheated cars.
However, the new law will only protect breaking into a vehicle under strict guidelines. If you’re faced with the situation, here’s what you need to know:
– First, you must check that the vehicle is locked.
– After doing so, call 911 or law enforcement before entering the vehicle or immediately after rescuing the child or pet.
– Finally, use no more force than is necessary to break in — and remain with the person or animal until first-responders arrive.
House Majority Leader Dana Young, R-Tampa, Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Coral Springs, and Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto, R-Fort Myers, ushered the proposal through the Legislature this session with unanimous support.

EU: Glyphosate’s time is up!

We’re one step away from a glyphosate-free EU. For the third time in a row, member states have refused to back the Commission’s proposed licence extension for weedkiller glyphosate.

But the Commission won’t take no for an answer, and will try to force through a last-ditch appeal in Brussels June 24. Otherwise, a whole lot of Monsanto’s Roundup will be coming down from shelves across Europe this year.

Instead of heeding the cancer warnings of the WHO, the European Commission has tried to do Monsanto’s dirty work by pushing through a licence extension despite experts agreeing that a ban of the pesticide is necessary to prevent contamination of our food, water, and soil.

Tell EU member states to deal the final blow and reject any extension of the glyphosate licence on June 24.

Together we’ve created a mass movement opposing the continued use of Monsanto’s favorite pesticide -- from which contamination has been detected in food, clothing, personal hygiene products and even breast milk. And governments are finally taking notice.

France, Germany, Italy, and others all abstained from the last vote on the glyphosate extension, reflecting growing consensus that the pesticide is bad news for the people of Europe. And if we can make sure the Commission fails again to gain a qualified majority on June 24, glyphosate’s time will be up by the end of the month.

SumOfUs members have reached across the world to stand with people resisting Monsanto and other agrochemical giants. Thanks to public pressure and sound science, countries like France, Colombia, the Netherlands, and Sri Lanka have placed restrictions on glyphosate. But we know the chemical industry has a stranglehold on the European Commission, so we need to raise our voices now to make sure EU member states oppose any extension of glyphosate’s licence.

Tell EU member states that glyphosate’s time is finally up.

Petitioning: Mridula Sinha – Governor of Goa

Goa is a state in Western India with coastlines stretching around the Arabian Sea. It has a population of over 1.8 million inhabitants and is one of India’s most visited places. Millions of tourists are attracted by the white sandy beaches, spleding, crystal clear waters and powerful culture sites.
Unfortunately, the region has a dark secret. A blatant and unreal abuse of innocent primates: hundreds of macaque monkey suffer a grim fate each year. They are severely neglected, captured by villagers and mistreated in the most inhumane way, including being set on fire. Later, they are chained up and left to die, for all sorts of abhorrent reasons. On most occasions, it is simply for their sheer amusement. Some other times, the monkeys simply wanted something to eat, but villagers claimed they were causing havoc in their communities.

On 18 June 2016, the action of Vegan Impact

On 18 June 2016, the action of Vegan Impact echoed to the call of general de gaulle who championed the resistance and freedom.
As in 40, we are faced with a choice for the animals, to be part of the oppressors or resistant so of vegans.
The animals are like us of sentient beings, possessed of emotions, yet the human being continues to exploit them, maiming them, slaughter them and ignore them.
We want to educate the public, on a way of life ethics, who refuses the oppression of animals: the vegan who is refusing to use animals to feed, dress or be entertained.
It is time that we stop condoning this holocaust animal in our society. It is high time that we are moving towards a world of ethics, a world vegan!

The Declaration Of Animal Rights

The Declaration Of Animal Rights

The Declaration of Animal Rights - a project of international animal rights and planet conservation group Our Planet. Theirs Too - was drafted in May 2011 and publicly read and signed on June 3rd of the same year, on the 1st National Animal Rights Day in the US, in the city of New York.

The Declaration was copied onto a large scroll of paper, which since then has been traveling the world and collecting people's signatures, drawings and notes. It is now 100 feet long, with almost 2,000 signatures. Once it reaches 50,000 signatures, the scroll will be sent to the White House, the UN, The EU Parliament and other world leaders, in order to show them what we, the citizens of this world, think of our fellow animals and their rights. We will do this until The Declaration of Animal Rights is recognized all over the world, and the rights proclaimed in it are protected by global law!

You can read and sign The Declaration of Animal Rights here.

Instead of killing the animals, it feeds them.  This is the backbone of the idea that is the edible six pack rings, developed by Saltwater Brewery, from Delray Beach, Flordia.
“It’s a big investment for a small brewery created by fisherman, surfers and people that love the sea,” Peter Agardy, head of brand at the brewery, said.
“We hope to influence the big guys and hopefully inspire them to get on board,” Chris Gove, president of the company, added.
The rings are the first of their kind.

The Elephants Always Line Up To Hug This Old Lady.

Daphne Sheldrick is one of those heroes you won’t hear about in the news, she won’t have schools named after her, but a hero who in the span of almost half a century saved hundreds of orphaned elephants right there in her home in Nairobi.
Mrs. Sheldrick is the one who perfected the formula that mimics elephant milk which proved to be crucial for these babies orphaned by poachers. Even though in her 80, she still gets up every morning with the same dedication to keep these gentle giants safe from extinction just a bit longer. Truly an inspirational human being.

Taking a Stand: 22,000 Nurses Refuse “Mandatory” Vaccinations

by CHRISTINA SARICH

If you are a nurse in the US and refuse the flu vaccine (one the CDC has even admitted doesn’t always work, largely due to fast mutations and too slow of production) then you have to wear a face mask while on duty. Despite the fact that multiple studies have also shown that flu vaccinations are ineffective and do not offer any extra protection for hospital patients, hospitals are forcing the issue on some of their most prized employees.
Some nurses are choosing to lose their jobs instead of being forced into receiving a vaccine. Others are fighting back by suing the hospital, state, and federal governments for $100,000,000 for trying to take away their constitutional rights.
Dr. Karen Sullivan Sibert, herself a pro-vaccine doctor, wrote an opinion piece explaining how requiring nurses to wear masks for refusing the flu vaccination violates HIPAA law for patient privacy. More importantly, it forces our front lines in the healthcare industry to take a concoction with numerous questionable ingredients, including known neurotoxins like aluminum, foreign proteins derived from GM ingredients, and more.
There are in fact, more than 22,000 nurses, part of Nurses against Mandatory Vaccines (NAMV), who are refusing mandatory vaccines. NAMV was founded when mandatory vaccines were introduced in the workplace, and though it is not pro-vaccine OR anti-vaccine, it is certainly pro-CHOICE. NAMV members believe that all people should have the right to choose and refuse medical treatment, including nurses and healthcare workers.

All Non Human Animals… Are Conscious Beings

Prominent Scientists Declare “All Non Human Animals… Are Conscious Beings.” The Dalai Lama Protests Chicken Slaughter. An Orangutan Won Non-Human Rights Over Zoo Keeper. What Do the Teachers Say About Non-Human Compassion?

A prominent international group of cognitive neuroscientists and other experts made a strong declaration, endorsed by Stephen Hawking, affirming that all “nonhuman animals… including octopuses” are sentient and feel emotions such as fear and happiness. In Argentina, an orangutan won non-human rights against his zoo-keeper. Recently, in the news, a monkey won the rights to a selfie photo over the owner of the camera.
The advance in non-human rights begs the question, from a Buddhist perspective, when we promise to liberate all sentient beings — or not to kill — just who do we include? If our definition includes all beings down to insects and octopuses, how do we reconcile our dependence on “lower” beings for survival?
Increasingly, teachers are speaking out on non-human sentience and unnecessary suffering for these beings. When the Dalai Lama famously protested “cruelty to chickens” in 2012, it was inspired by an abundance of compassion (see “Dalai Lama and Chickens” below). How does the “Cambridge Declaration” from an international group of prominent scientists, stating that even octopuses feel emotions, change our view? More importantly, what do our teacher’s say? To help provide insight, we collected teachings from the Buddha, the Dalai Lama, Bikkhu Bodhi, Thich Nhat Hanh, Zasep Tulku Rinpoche, Karma Lekshe Tsomo, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Kyabje Chatral Sangye Rinpoche, Geshe Thubten Soepa, and, of course, Stephen Hawking and the Cambridge Scientists.

Meet Genesis

Meet Genesis: an 8 year old vegan

activist changing the world

The next generation of activists are starting early

There is something very special about that moment when we join the dots and realise the link between the food we’re eating and the animals we love. Genesis Butler has this experience far earlier than for most people. Going vegetarian of her own volition at the age of four, she chose to become vegan aged six, spurred on by a realisation she had watching her mother breastfeeding her baby brother.
Supported by her family, all of whom have joined Genesis in following a vegan lifestyle, she has gone from strength to strength in her animal advocacy. Genesis has picketed circuses, given speeches to her local governors, been interviewed on news stations and set up her own foundation to raise money for animals in need – all before her ninth birthday.
