Beauty Guru Releases Video About Going Vegan

Beauty Guru Releases Video About Going Vegan

Popular makeup vlogger Carli Bybel goes vegan and shares her journey with four million subscribers.
Makeup guru Carli Bybel—who has amassed more than four million subscribers and 364 million views of her YouTube videos since 2011—released a video about her first day as a vegan. Bybel was initially inspired to go vegan as a way to address her eczema flare-ups, but after researching the cruelty involved in the production of meat and dairy, the social media star made a commitment to rid her life of animal products. After watching videos of male chicks ground up as a byproduct of the egg industry and cows suffering for the production of milk, Bybel said, “Once you see something with your own eyes, it changes everything.” Bybel’s cat, Cindy, made an appearance in the 14-minute clip, which finds the vlogger stating, “All I could think about was my baby,” adding, “They have feelings, they have love, they are aware.” She goes on to explain how “the whole industry is so screwed up. It’s all a business, so they’re not telling you what’s going on.” Bybel also urges her fans to follow in her footsteps: “If you guys do your research, I guarantee you will not want to eat meat,” Bybel said. “If I can convince five of you to switch over to being vegan, that will make me feel better about myself because I sit up here, recommend makeup and fashion but at the end of the day, all that stuff doesn’t matter.” Before signing off, Bybel revealed that she will begin working on ridding her makeup collection of cruelty and teased that she is working on creating an upcoming vegan product.

Sign of the times: 600 doctors attend conference on plant-based nutrition

Just a few weeks ago, nearly 600 doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals came together in Anaheim, California, to learn more about plant-based nutrition at the International Plant-Based Nutrition Healthcare Conference.

With attendees from around the world, including some who came from as far as China and South Africa, this event is a definite sign of the times.

Scott Stoll, doctor and co-founder of the conference, shares with Latest Vegan News:

Physicians are trained to treat symptoms and diseases, rather than addressing the underlying imbalances that perpetuate illness. As doctors become informed, rise up, band together, and—in the spirit of the Hippocratic Oath—demand change of the current system, the system will begin to change, ushering in real healthcare reform and a sustainable system.

The World Health Organization recently announced that processed meats cause cancer, so it should come as no surprise that the number of physicians advocating for a healthy, plant-based diet continues to grow.

Dr. Ellsworth Wareham, a 100-year-old World War II veteran and retired heart surgeon, made headlines in recent years for his longevity, which he credits to a healthy vegan diet.

Just last year, CBC News reported that a vegan cardiologist in Ontario is prescribing healthy dietary changes instead of relying on cholesterol-lowering pharmaceuticals. Dr. Shane Williams counsels his patients to eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes, and to leave animal products off their plates.

And according to Dr. William Roberts, a prominent cardiovascular pathologist, humans are really herbivores, and heart disease is caused by animal foods. The structure of our teeth and the length of our intestines indicate that we are designed to eat plants. Meat consumption is linked not only to heart disease, but to cancer and diabetes as well. What’s more, heart disease is virtually unheard of in cultures that follow plant-based diets.

You can take a stand for your health and the countless animals suffering on factory farms by adopting a healthy, humane plant-based diet.

The Video the Rotten Egg Industry Doesn’t Want You to See

Published on Apr 13, 2016
A new Mercy For Animals undercover investigation exposes sickening cruelty to animals at a farm that produces eggs sold across the United States. Hidden-camera video shows hens crammed in tiny cages barely able to move without climbing over other birds. Dead hens, rotted beyond recognition, are left in cages with hens still laying eggs for human consumption. We can stop this blatant animal abuse.
